Great and informative article about wine bottle closure. Yes i’m convinced the screw cap does a better job keeping the wine in good quality. I think you left out a couple important things.
Some love the sound of classic cars’ engine. I (probably not the only one) love pulling out a cork with a nice tool and the pop sound it makes. The thin aluminum just looks and sound cheep because many other cheep products use the same device.
This leads to the second thing you didn’t mention. To address both the wine quality and the cheap looking twist cap, I find the synthetic cork is a great compromise. It’s air tight, no contaminants (plastic), AND makes a nice pop!
