The debate began in 1949 and took ten
years to conclude. The issue: Where to build our much-needed state capitol. It was fifty years ago, in 1959, that the location of the new state capitol was finally decided after hundreds of lawyers, architects, elected officials, and citizens debated over twenty potential sites.
