Partners On & Off The Court

During the last Masters Tournament (won by Angel Cabrera in a thrilling playoff against Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell), the announcers remarked that Steve Williams, Tiger Woods’ caddy, was like a 15th club in Tiger’s bag. Of course they meant that Steve’s advice on club selection and in helping Tiger manage his game – and his head – was invaluable. But while a good caddy plays an important role, an even more important role belongs to a player’s spouse, both on and off the course.
The rules allow only one caddy to assist the player on the course, but you can be sure that a player’s spouse is never far from the action. Besides being a best friend, a tour spouse plays many other roles: master sports psychologist, travel planner, nutritionist, fitness coach, personal shopper, tour guide, motivation specialist, and occasionally even swing coach.Love in the Time of Golf Season.
